The reason that you are in debt now might just be on account of a credit card or two as most of our debts in this country are from. And that means that you are paying a high interest rate and have probably had not a few fees tacked on as well. And so as each and everyday goes by you can only sit back and watch how the debt can grow and grow, reminding yourself not to get into this mess ever again. And when the credit card company sells your debt is when things start to get really bad. That creditor will have no qualms about calling you at all hours of the day and night and particularly on the weekends when you are at the beach with friends or your family.

Too many questions

When the phone calls start then you know that you are in trouble and that until they see at least a little of your cash, they are not going to leave you alone for one second, after all it is to them that you owe your credit card debt. So, why not use this as a learning experience about credit cards for the future. One thing we really seem to have a lot of trouble with in this country is living within our means. That means that if you do not make a whole heck of a lot of money, you should probably not lease that Mercedes S-class as you will only have to give it back to the bank in the end anyway and your credit will reflect that. You should also not go buying your girlfriend an expensive piece of jewelry as that too will have to be pried off her hand in the end. You have to learn to live without those things, and anyway no one really needs them.

The key with a credit card is paying it all off with each billing cycle. if you cannot afford it now and you will not be able to afford it when the bill comes, then do not buy it. Put it off until a later day, it will mean more to you if you do it this way too. Save the money instead and put it away so that it can bought outright and with cash when you have met your goal and saved enough for it, that way the interest rate on the credit card won't even really matter because you will not be charged any because you paid it all off in full. Of course we all need a credit card in this day and age, but we also need to learn how to be a bit wiser with it.
